FAQ (DaDesktop for Training)
1. For Power Bi and VBA, is there Excel inside DaDesktop (DD)? (Because MS Excel functions are required)
- Unfortunately, MS Office is not included in DaDesktop (neither Win10 nor Win11 Pro). What we supply is simply the DD virtual machine and a training room.
- Trainers should set up a free trial of MS Office for each participant.
- Alternatively, delegates can use their own MS Office account.
2. Can I copy something from my own desktop to my DD desktop?
- Absolutely. We've introduced an easy to use means to upload files from your own machine to the DD Desktop. The only minor catch is that, currently, only one file can be transferred at a time. But you can easily zip or archive all needed files into a single bundle and then copy that over to your DaDesktop machine without any hassle.
- If you're using a cloud storage system, remember to log out before cloning to all delegates.
3. Why is the text in DD blurry, unclear, or even invisible?
- If you're using the Chrome Browser, navigate to chrome://settings/system and turn off the hardware acceleration option.
4. Do Trainers have access to the NobleProg wiki?
- No. The https://hr.nobleprog.com/trainer/register Terms and Conditions state that a trainer cannot access the wiki.
- If you'd like to suggest content for the NobleProg wiki, just copy and paste your edits into an email for the trainer—a PDF is also fine.
5. Are there any domains we can whitelist when using proxy or content/network filtering to enable better working?
Yes! Please whitelist any domains that match this pattern :-
- *.npg.io
-
https://dd4t.dadesktop.com
For any other questions, reach out to DaDesktop Support.
6. How can I have multiple desktops when using DD, like Ansible Training?
- Trainers begin by setting up the DD configuration—choosing the right amounts of RAM, CPU, and disk space.
- Next, install Virt Manager or VirtualBox within DD to create multiple virtual machines and then configure networking between them.
- Once everything is ready, you can clone the setup to all delegates in just seconds.
- If you need assistance, don't hesitate to contact DaDesktop Support.
7. What is the server capacity?
- This depends on the server hardware.
- For example, 512GB of RAM can be used as 512GB * 3.
- Each server tops out at 250GB of disk space, up to 16 CPU threads per desktop, and RAM configurations are fully customizable.
8. Can I download the Video from the Training Recordings?
- Yes, you can now download recordings by clicking the three small dots to the right of the video player.
- The video includes audio if you used the training room's audio.
9. Which browser should I used for DD?
- Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Opera all perform flawlessly.
- Other browsers, such as Internet Explorer, aren't fully supported.
10. Why is there a huge delay using DaDesktop?
- First, check your network connection—DaDesktop performance relies on your local internet speed.
- Also, look at the server location; coordinators always select a server that is geographically close to participants.
- Try turning off your VPN or switching it to PAC mode. Additionally, disable any security applications, especially those that might interfere with WebSocket connections, as these are critical for smooth DaDesktop operation.
11. Websocket is blocked or not supported by network
Accessing Remote Desktop relies on Websocket
- The issue might be with your own device blocking it. Review your settings for anything that might be preventing WebSocket connections. For example, on some Chromebooks, within proxy settings, if the "Use the same proxy for all protocols" option is enabled, WebSocket won't work (because it assigns a proxy to the SOCKS host). Uncheck that box and leave the SOCKS host field blank—this typically solves the problem.
- Alternatively, the network itself could be the reason. In that case, you'll need to contact your network administrator and ask them to unblock WebSocket.
12. What support do you have for GPU, ie for 3d applications, etc ?
- Check out our GPU page for details on GPU support.
13. Is there any potential issues or answers?
- In most everyday use, DaDesktop works just like a regular Windows or Linux machine. However, you might encounter a few small issues when running certain software applications in a training environment, particularly when cloning machines.
14. Do you support Mac compatible programs or Mac Emulation?
- No, we don't support Mac-compatible programs or Mac emulation, mainly because of licensing complications.
