Overview of Standalone Desktops

First, let's clarify what we mean by a Standalone Desktop in DaDesktop.

We have an excellent overview of the various Desktops available. But in simple terms, a 'Standalone' desktop is a machine that isn't necessarily tied to a course. It 'stands alone' as an independent desktop that you can use before or after a course ends, or simply on its own without any course connection.
This makes it especially flexible.

 

 

 

Common reasons for setting up Standalone desktops:

1. Preparing training course content that can be reused repeatedly outside of a course, or kept on hand for whenever it's needed.
2. When you need a flexible machine, perhaps with a different operating system (Linux, Windows), to test out ideas in a safe environment.
    

Features:

1. Shareable links give full access to anyone who has the link.
2. If it's not used, it automatically shuts down after 24 hours.

Cost:

1. Creating a desktop is free.
2. Starting a desktop does incur a cost.
3. The cost depends on the number of units, determined by CPU, memory, and disk space. There's an additional charge for Windows.
4. If you join a course as a student or trainer, you'll receive free credits that can be used for standalone desktops.
5. If you don't connect to your standalone desktop for more than a month, it will be removed.

To search for desktops from which your desktop was cloned, enter "clonefrom#" followed by the relevant keyword.
