Reserving GPU Resources

Training Coordinators can ensure dedicated GPU availability for their courses by creating GPU reservations. This process grants these courses top priority over requested compute hardware, guaranteeing that the necessary infrastructure is in place to support both training sessions and labs without interruption.

To establish a GPU reservation for a specific course, follow the procedure below:

Navigate to the Desktops tab on the course page and select the blue "Reserve GPU" button located directly beneath the Video conference option.

A configuration prompt will appear, requesting details for your GPU request.

Begin by defining the location preference; the default setting is typically "Anywhere".

If you are aware of the closest city to your participants, you can refine the search by selecting "Within distance from city" and entering the location manually.

For broader geographic coverage, you may also opt to select "Others...".

Once the location is confirmed, click "Continue" to proceed to the "Per desktop" section, where you will define the specific machine requirements.

Input the required resources for each machine to generate an accurate cost estimate for the reservation.

** Please ensure these details are precise. Accurate inputs facilitate a reliable cost projection and assist course managers in sourcing alternative resources if specific regional availability is limited.

If the details are correct, click Continue to advance to the GPU requirements section.

In this stage, it is recommended to consult with the trainer to identify the exact hardware needs for the course. Trainers usually have a clear understanding of the preferred GPU vendor and model. If the specific requirements are uncertain, select "ANY".

We currently support two major vendors: AMD and Nvidia.

Regarding specific models, we provide a list from our current catalogue. If you are unsure about the trainer's specific needs, please leave this field as "ANY" as well.

After verifying all reservation details, click "Place reservation". This action will allocate the necessary funds, activate the reservation on the course page, and display the status as shown below:

Should you receive updated information regarding the required GPUs or need to modify the existing reservation, please reach out to DD support for assistance in editing the GPU reservation request.
